Youthful Energy Heats Up Hearing on the NM Emissions Cap

Last year, New Mexico became a national leader in air pollution control by passing a rule to limit and reduce the carbon emissions of its largest polluters.

This week in Santa Fe, the state’s Environmental Improvement Board is considering a move by power companies and the oil and the natural gas industry to repeal that cap.  

After hours of slow-paced technical testimony yesterday, but as KUNM’s Sidsel Overgaard reports, the evening livened up when more than two hundred students arrived to voice their support for keeping greenhouse gas limits in place.
