April 14, 2011 – New Mexico 1st District Representative, Democrat Martin Heinrich, voted in favor of the continuing resolution to fund the federal government through the end of September. Also voting in favor of it were both New Mexico Senators Tom Udall and Jeff Bingaman. Third District Representative Ben Ray Lujan voted against the continuing resolution. His concerns, he said, were over cuts to the WIC program, which provide nutritional assistance to New Mexico women and children, and community healthcare centers, which provide care to underserved and low-income communities.
Representative Heinrich spoke about the budget vote with Jim Williams on All Things Considered on KUNM.
