Protecting Our Native World Through Music

http://www.blackfire.net/

Fri. 3/25 at 11am: On Saturday, March 26th, a benefit concert will use the strength of music to raise awareness of uranium mining in the Grand Canyon. Host Harlan McKosato is joined by Klee Benally of the Din? punk band Blackfire, who will be performing at the concert.Music is known for its healing powers and ability to send out a message in the Native world. As one set of Native musicians uses their artistry to bring awareness, just how much are Natives relying on the beats and rhythms of music to resonate to listeners? Is this one form of activism that has allowed a Native issue to be tackled?
