HSI, Albuquerque Police Form Abduction Task Force
Homeland Security Investigations and Albuquerque police have created a new task force aimed at finding missing and abduction children.
Kevin Abar, assistant special agent in charge of HSI in New Mexico, announced Thursday that the Sexual Predator and Exploitation Enforcement Detail, or SPEED, will work as a child abduction response team in parts of New Mexico.
In addition, the new task force will investigate state and federal crimes related to the sexual exploitation of children. Officials say SPEED will allow the agencies to combine resources to quickly investigate abduction cases.
The newly created task force was credited with finding an abducted 10-year-old boy who was a taken from his mother by his biological father last month. The boy and the father were found hours later.
