House Passes Bill To Strengthen Hispanic Center

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — The New Mexico House has passed a bill aimed at strengthening the National Hispanic Cultural Center by improving communication between its governing and fundraising boards.

The bill, passed unanimously on Monday, would allow cross membership on both the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation board and the National Hispanic Cultural Center governing board. The legislation also calls for the creation of a memorandum of understanding between the two boards.

Chris Saucedo, chairman of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, says the legislation ensures that the goals of the foundation and the goals of the center remain consistent with each other.
