UPDATE 12/22 1p Associated Press: A recording from a police sergeant's belt tape suggests New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez was inebriated the night police responded to a complaint at a hotel where she was hosting a holiday party.

Santa Fe police released the recording Tuesday on the Dec. 13 incident. A clerk called dispatchers to report noise and that someone was throwing bottles from a hotel balcony.

The governor's speech is halted and lilting in the audio. A hotel security employee and the sergeant agree that the governor is inebriated and discuss how to handle the situation.

Martinez previously apologized after telling police dispatchers to call off officers and seeking out the identity of those who complained about the loud behavior.

Her office reiterated Tuesday that the governor has previously said she had a drink and a half.

In the belt tapes, which you can listen to on NMPoliticalReport.com, Martinez says that people had been throwing bottles from the balcony before she got to the hotel room.

UPDATE 12/19 8a Associated Press: New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is apologizing for her staff's conduct at her annual holiday party at a downtown Santa Fe hotel.

A noise complaint resulted in police responding to one of her staffer's rooms.

In a statement Friday night, Martinez says someone threw snowballs from a hotel balcony and says that behavior is unacceptable.

Martinez also says she made a mistake by speaking to the hotel receptionist and asking about the noise complaint.

The governor says she shouldn't have gotten involved in trying to resolve the situation and she should have handled it differently.

Authorities have released dispatch tapes from a noise complaint that led police to New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez's hotel room. In the tapes the governor can be heard telling dispatchers there was no need to send officers

The audio recordings of the governor's discussion with Santa Fe County dispatchers were released Friday. You can hear them in full by going to NMPoliticalReport.com which obtained the tapes. KOB.com has the audio tapes transcribed here

Police were called to the room on Sunday after the hotel's front desk reported a complaint about noise and someone throwing bottles off the balcony.

The governor said she was in the room with her disabled sister and six others, eating pizza.

Martinez said whomever had been making noise had been there several hours before and there was no need for police.

The governor also demanded to know who made the complaint.

The governor's spokesman told the Journal that the governor didn't know of previous complaints and that earlier, people had been throwing snowballs off the balcony of the hotel room. Also, Martinez says she regretted the way the situation was handled by her and her staff.
