Former Albuquerque City official Pete Dinelli has announced his candidacy for mayor, saying his priorities would include economic development and public safety.

Partisan affiliations don't appear on the ballot but Dinelli is a Democrat and incumbent Richard Berry is a Republican.

Berry hasn't said whether he'll seek re-election but the Albuquerque Journal (http://bit.ly/UuVQew ) reports that many expect him to run.

Dinelli is a former city councilor, prosecutor, workers' compensation judge and deputy city attorney.
