Albuquerque, NM – The state Public Regulation Commission is holding meetings this week in Albuquerque to hear from consumers on Public Service Company of New Mexico's most recent rate hike request.

Commentator Carmela Starace is a lawyer with Prosperity Works. The non-profit organization advocates for low income New Mexicans and has filed a motion in opposition to PNM's rate request.

PNM says the rate hike is needed to offset capital improvements and to pay for future investments.

The Public Regulation Commission will hear public comments on PNM's request Wednesday at 2pm and 6pm at the African American Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque.
