Tue. 4/10 11a: Native American characters can be seen in video games like “Turok - Dinosaur Hunter,” “Mortal Kombat” and “Gun.” Comic books also feature a large cast of Native characters dressed in the stereotypical feathers, leathers and war paint. Do you take pride when you come across a Native character in popular culture even though it does not look like a person from your tribe? Do Native Americans perpetuate the mythical Native character they claim to despise? Guests include Michael Sheyahshe (Caddo) Author of Native Americans in Comic Books.

Jury Selection to Begin in Astorga Sentencing

Jury selection is set to begin in the death penalty phase in the trial of Michael Paul Astorga who was convicted in 2006 of killing Bernalillo County deputy James McGrane Jr.

Jurors will be asked to sentence Astorga to life in prison or to death, even though New Mexico repealed the death penalty in 2009. Astorga is still eligible for the death penalty since the crime occurred before the repeal.

One of the great things about music is that it has the capability of time travel — you smell a certain smell in the room and it takes you back to your childhood. I feel like music is able to do that, and it happens to me all the time."

During the course of his career, singer-songwriter Adam Cohen says he has twisted himself into creating commercially successful music — but not this record, not this song. "What Other Guy," from his third album Like A Man, didn't seem likely to generate mainstream popularity. And yet it did, more than any other song he has ever recorded.

The son of iconic singer Leonard Cohen, Adam Cohen says his latest record is a celebration and demonstration of his father's influence on his music.
