How does one date Planet Earth?  How old is the earth, and how do scientists figure out the age of rocks? Geochronologist, Dr. Matt Heizler from the New Mexico Bureau of Geology at New Mexico Tech answers all these questions and many more, including how moon dust is involved in increasing our understanding.

Plus, we spoke with the National Institute of Flamenco's education director, Jacqueline Garcia about what they offer kids and families.

Katie Stone

This week on The Children's Hour, producer Katie Stone spoke with award winning author Sherman Alexie about his new book for younger kids, Thunder Boy.  Zoe reviewed a book for older kids, A Night Divided. Plus, we listened to a story by Bill Harley that explored the questions: what do teachers do during the summer and do you really want to know?

With great music, a family events calendar, the KUNM Kids Birthday Club, and so much more, every Saturday at 9am. This show was recorded live at KUNM on June 11, 2016.
