Sat 1/19 7p: Live Jazz at the Albuquerque Amphitheater.  Two acts took the stage this summer as part of the Jazz Under the Stars series put on by the New Mexico Jazz Workshop. Bert Dalton Brazil Project—Led by pianist, Bert Dalton, The Brazil Project performs a blend fo traditional, contemporary, and original Brazilian music featuring samba, bossa nova, the excitement of carnival and top-flight jazz and Latin improvisations.

Live and Local - Certified Organic

Sat. 1/12 7p:   Hear "Certified Organic"  recorded live at the Albuquerque Museum as part of the 2012 Jazz Under the Stars series.  The group combines the sophisticated sounds of a jazz quartet with the soul of a blues band and mixes it with the grooves of a funky party band. Built around the inimitable sound of the Hammond B3 organ, Certified Organic features some of New Mexico’s finest players: Stu MacAskie (B3), Glenn Kostur (saxophone), Dimi DiSanti (guitar) and John Bartlit (drums).

Supersax - Live Jazz Under the Stars

Sat. 1/5 7p: Tonight we showcase Supersax New Mexico, recorded live at the Albuquerque Museum Ampitheater August 11, 2012.  Supersax is five saxophones, trumpet and a rhythm section playing orchestrated Charlie Parker tunes. The performance was part of the Jazz Under The Stars presented by the NM Jazz Workshop.  KUNM Production Director Roman Garcia, engineered the live recording, mixed it for broadcast and hosts tonight’s show. Enjoy.

Chieftans & Ry Cooder - San Patricio

Sat. 3/13: This special features a unique take on a rarely told chapter of Irish-American history - the story of the "San Patricio Battalion," and Irish immigrant soldiers in the US-Mexican War who deserted their US posts to fight for the Mexican side.

Paddy Maloney of the Chieftans, Ry Cooder, members of the Mexican-American band Los Cenzontles, and Irish historian Peter F. Stevens discuss the history of the San Patricio Battalion, the kinship between Irish and Mexican cultures, and how they relate to the music from this project that is featured in the special.
