Wed. 2/6 1:30p: The American/Brazilian group Nation Beat joins Carol Boss in the studio for live music. This world beat fusion project has pioneered a synthesis of music from northeastern Brazil and the deep American South. They play a 21st century mashup inspired by Brazilian maracatu drumming, New Orleans second line rhythms, funk and country-blues.
Wed 10/31 1:30p: Four KUNM Freeform DJs join Carol Boss to spin some of their favorite creepy, ghoulish, wacky Halloween tunes. Travis Parkin, Mello, Mary B, Brandon "Dead" Kennedy and Carol Boss will be mixing their spook-tacular brews just for you.
Thursday Afternoon Freeform host Scott Denton speaks with Nels Cline, veteran solo/collaborative musician, composer, and bandleader in free jazz, experimental and rock genres, as well as lead guitarist for Wilco (appearing at the Santa Fe Opera September 18th).

Fri. 10/7 at 2:30pm: Jose Conde and the Nu Latin Groove join host Mary B for a live performance in the KUNM studios. But don't say we didn't warn you: one dose of their positively infectious rhythms and you won't be able to keep from dancing!
Mon. 7/25 at (roughly) 140pm: Pistolera/Moona Luna will drop by the KUNM studios for a short performance and interview with DJ Peggy Hessing. Pistolera is a critically acclaimed New York band whose accordion-driven dance music has fans around the world dancing cumbias to the group's socially conscious songs?en espa?ol?about immigrants' rights, war, racism, feminism, and life on the border. Their alter ego Moona Luna is a bilingual family band.
Thurs. 7/15 at 130pm: Travis Parkin plays two themed sets featuring some of "the best music you've never heard."
In our first theme-driven set, we'll be serving up a handpicked selection of mostly obscure and unheralded original versions of songs that went on to be big hits for other artists. Featured in the set will numbers by Gloria Jones, Yma Sumac, Arthur Alexander, Tim Hardin and John D. Loudermilk.

New Mexico is about to wrap up one of the hottest Junes on record and in our first theme-driven set, we'll be frying the airwaves with a collection of our favorite heat wave selections. Featured artists include Arrow, Ray Charles, Los Manolos, and Cal Tjader & Carmen McRae.

2011 has brought us one of the windiest springs on record here in New Mexico and in our first theme driven set we'll do our best to blow you away with a few of our favorite breezy melodies. Featured artists include J.J. Cale, Lyle Lovett, Gllian Welch, and Jamie Cullum.

Wed. 3/23 at 2pm: A singer, songwriter, guitarist and kantele player (Finnish folk harp), Diane Jarvi is a versatile performer of folk and world music. Diane will be joined by Dan Newton (aka Daddy Squeeze) on accordion.
In addition to her own compositions, Jarvi is known for her intimate and authentic interpretations of tangos, waltzes, gypsy music, ballads, jazz standards and cabaret songs from around the world. On Wild Gardens, her latest CD, Jarvi travels through the gardens of France, Finland, Sweden, Chile, the British Isles and Texas.
Thurs. 1/27: This week, host Travis Parkin's eclectic themed sets include "We Got the Boogie" and "State of the Union." Plus, a set of songs written by Jerome Kern in honor of (what would have been) his 126th birthday.
