Turn The Radio ON!

Thu. 8/30 11a: In preparation for the work or school day many of us turn on our favorite Native radio station to get us revved up for our daily nine to five job.

We also enjoy listening to soothing voices on air and often the selection of music as we drive home after a long day. These radio hot spots connect us to our community while letting us know what's happening around the world. Native radio announcers know how to put a spin on the mundane and create a story that suddenly sounds incredibly interesting. They know how to make people laugh and they know how to bring the community together in times of sorrow.

What Native radio station announcer comes to mind when you hear the phrase "blessed with the gift of gab?" And what does it take to get these radio hosts prepared for their morning grind or evening drive?

Guests: Marie Rock (Anishinaabe), KOJB Morning Show Announcer, "Lakota Soulman" -Virgil Taken Alive (Hunkpapa Lakota), KLND's Morning Announcer, and Robert Bell (Three Affiliated Tribes), Program Director/Announcer for KGVA.
