Albuquerque, New Mexico –
One conversation at a time, StoryCorps Historias is collecting the Latino stories and voices of our time. What's in a name? Lucille Montoya tells her son, Albuquerque truck driver Jacob Montoya, the romantic tale of meeting his late father in Socorro when she was a girl. The Montoyas trace their deep roots in New Mexico to the first Spanish settlers and the language that they brought. Their conversation was recorded last May at a StoryCorps Historias mobile booth in Albuquerque. Editing by Candace Murphy.
The StoryCorps Historias Albuquerque project was made possible with support from the New Mexico Humanities Council and the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
