New Police Chief in Juarez Looks to End Corruption and Drug Violence

El Paso. TX – In Mexico, the sight of a police officer doesn't always inspire a sense of security. On the contrary many Mexicans distrust their local police force. This is the case in Ciudad Juarez where authorities have failed to control an eruption of drug-related violence that's left more than 8,000 dead.

But the city's new police chief promises to change that. From the Fronteras Changing America Desk, Monica Ortiz Uribe reports the new chief plans to restore order and win the public's confidence.
