New Online Journalism Outlet Formed in New Mexico

A new online journalism organization called New Mexico In Depth has been established to publish investigative reports and articles on issues ranging from education and health care to politics and poverty.

The news outlet announced Wednesday it's receiving $525,000 over two years from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and plans to start publishing later this year.

Two New Mexico journalists are leading the organization. The executive director is Trip Jennings, a statehouse reporter for the Santa Fe New Mexican. The deputy director is Heath Haussamen, who edits a political web site and is a former Las Cruces newspaper reporter. Haussamen will continue his web site.

Jennings said the organization hopes to partner with current news media outlets and potentially provide stipends for reporters to tackle detailed journalism projects.
