Mesilla Valley, New Mexico – Pecan growers in southern New Mexico are finally gathering this year's crop after wet weather delayed harvesting.
The New Mexico Department of Agriculture estimates that the state's pecan industry is now valued at about $180 million annually.
KUNM's Kent Paterson recently visited a pair of pecan growers south of Las Cruces and has this profile of some of the highs and lows of pecan farming in New Mexico.
