Nearly 400,000 People Marched In Solidarity For Climate Change Action, Makes Organizing History

Luna Olavarria Gallegos

Sun. 9/28, 7p: As many as 400,000 people marched the streets of New York City in support of climate change last Sunday. It was the largest climate march in history but mainstream news hardly covered the event. In fact, according to a Media Matters study, the Sunday shows on NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox spent only a combined 27 minutes on the topic of climate change in 2013. This week, Generation Justice will air interviews with students, people of color, and artists who attended the Peoples Climate March. We will also speak with organizers Javier Benavidez, Executive Director of the SouthWest Organizing Project, Monica Cordova, Program Director of The Funders’ Collaborative on Youth Organizing - FCYO and Michael Leon Guerrero, Interim National Coordinator of Our Power Campaign. Tune in to KUNM 89.9 FM Sunday at 7 p.m.
