National Forests Open for Christmas Tree Cutting Until December 23

For over 50 years New Mexico’s National Forests have been selling Christmas tree permits to energeticdo-it-yourself-ers, and this year is no different.

Last summer’s wildfires brought exceptional attention to New Mexico’s forests.  With all the news of devastation, it’s easy to forget that most areas remain unscathed.  KUNM’s Conservation Beat reporter Sidsel Overgaard headed up to the Jemez District of the Santa Fe National Forest recently to talk to a few people about the search for the perfect tree.
