Live In-Studio: Kiran Ahluwalia

Fri. 11/18 2p: Indian singer Kiran Ahluwalia joins Mary B for a live performance. Kiran performs the evening of the 18th at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

Expressing her muse through ghazals and Punjabi folk songs, Kiran Ahluwalia explores the language of the heart with beautiful artistry and smoldering intensity. Born in India, raised in Canada, and now living in New York City, her enchanting and seductive music has garnered glowing praise from critics around the world. Her brand new CD "Aam Zameen - Common Ground" is an interesting new direction. Having previously merged her music with sounds as diverse as Portuguese fado and Celtic fiddle, on this captivating new recording, award-winning Canadian singer Kiran Ahluwalia embraces her love of Saharan desert blues and collaborates with two Tuareg groups; the legendary Tinariwen and up-and-coming fellow tribesmen, Terakaft.
