Heat Wave, Tunes About Marriage, and BioPark Zoo Concerts

Thurs. 6/30 at 130pm: Travis Parkin plays three fabulous theme-drive sets featuring some of the "best music you've never heard."

New Mexico is about to wrap up one of the hottest Junes on record and in our first theme-driven set, we'll be frying the airwaves with a collection of our favorite heat wave selections. Featured artists include Arrow, Ray Charles, Los Manolos, and Cal Tjader & Carmen McRae.

Last Friday, the New York State Senate passed its same-sex marriage bill and later in the program, a handpicked assortment of tunes about marriage with contributions from Flaco Jimenez, Fred Astaire, Pearl Bailey, Lyle Lovett and Harry Nilsson.

In our final thematic set, we'll be previewing several of the acts that are scheduled to appear this summer at the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo concerts. Artists include Chris Isaak, Big Sandy & The Fly-Rite Boys, Junior Brown, Po' Girl, Eliza Gilkyson and others.
