Farmington Woman Charged In Fatal Colorado Crash - The Associated Press

A Farmington woman is behind held in Colorado on charges that she caused a crash that left one woman dead.

The Daily Times in Farmington reported Thursday that 36-year-old Yolanda Griswold remains held on $10,000 bond in Durango.

According to court records, she is facing charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and reckless driving for the Dec. 11 accident near the New Mexico state line.

Colorado State Patrol officials say Griswold rear-ended 25-year-old Jenny Luccous' vehicle. The impact caused Luccous' car to collide with an oncoming pickup truck.

Luccous was killed.

Her 12-year-old son, 32-year-old boyfriend and a passenger in the truck were treated for minor injuries.

Authorities say Griswold was using her cellphone and speeding at the time.

It was not known Friday if Griswold had an attorney.

Police say people in two cars exchanged gunfire while driving down a downtown Albuquerque street with bullets narrowly missing bystanders.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that the shooting happened around 10:45 a.m. Thursday near 2nd Street and Marble.

Officer Simon Drobik says an officer happened to hear the gunfire and rushed to the scene.

The officer only saw two vehicles speeding away.

Drobik says several bullets hit a uniform store, including one that almost struck a woman in the head.

Police say they do not know if anyone in either vehicle was struck by gunfire but are asking hospitals to report any gunshot wounds.

Roswell Man Gets Back Stolen Ashes Of Love OnesThe Associated Press

A Roswell family is back in possession of the stolen ashes of two relatives.

Anthony Garcia says the remains of his wife and stepson were returned to a funeral home Thursday after going missing from a storage unit earlier this month.

Jose Luis Hernandez told the Roswell Daily Record that he was walking near the storage facility when he found the sets of remains behind a bush.

Hernandez figured out what they were after he saw an ad Garcia had placed in the newspaper about the lost remains.

Garcia says someone broke into his storage unit and took several items. But he only wanted the ashes back.

They are now locked in a safe at the funeral home until they can be spread during a planned trip to Oregon.
