Chican@s Studies At UNM: A Historical Debt

Danza de la Tierra by Judy Baca (poster, 2008, Dallas Latino Cultural Center)

Mon. 4/2, 7p: Today, on Espejos de Aztlán we´ll talk about a long standing need at the University of New Mexico: a deeper investment and development of a Chicana & Chicano Studies Department which is a "historical debt" to a state whose population is  rooted in the heart of Chican@s struggles.

Dr. Irene Vásquez, Chair of the Chicana/o Studies Department; Sarah Quevedo, a Chicana/o Studies Major; and Moisés Santos, graduate student in History at UNM will speak with hostess Cristina Baccin about the Department's graduate degrees proposals (i.e., Graduate Certificate, MA and PhD) and their expectations about an UNM approval.
