Weds. 7/14: The hosts catch up with Lonnie and his sons, Ronnie and Wayne Brooks at the 2009 Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise.
Lonnie Brooks is a living Blues legend. Rolling Stone says, "His music is witty, soulful and ferociously energetic, brimming with novel harmonic turnarounds, committed vocals and simply astonishing guitar work." He cut a series of 45s for a variety of labels, including Chess, Chirrup, Mercury, Midas and USA. He also supported other artists on record and live, including Jimmy Reed. In 1961 he played guitar on the double album, Jimmy Reed at Carnegie Hall. We've caught up with Lonnie and his sons, Ronnie and Wayne Brooks at the 2009 Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise. Susan Marshall is one of Memphis's most electrifying artists and possesses one of the most powerful voices you'll ever hear. She has a strong body of solo work, and has shared the stage with Keith Richards, The Afghan Whigs, Mother Station, and Lenny Kravitz to name a few. We've got a great set for you live from the HiTone Cafe in Memphis, TN. Guest Host Richard Hite tells us about Recording The Blues.
