Two members of the Albuquerque City Council say they want the city to consider changing how it oversees the Police Department.
Councilors Dan Lewis and Don Harris are proposing a study to consider ways to revamp the existing system under which a commission and an office handle citizens' complaints against police officers.
The Albuquerque Journal (http://bit.ly/VfQean) reports that activists and relatives of people shot by police question the effectiveness of the Police Oversight Commission.
The department is currently the subject of a federal civil rights investigation.
