Afropop in New York City for the 2012 Latin Alernative Music Conference

Fri. 11/16 10p: In the latest in our annual pilgrimage to New York City for the Latin Alternative Music Conference we meet artists from all over Latin America who make their marks as creating genre bending mash ups using local roots and international sounds.

Our guest host is Nadia Reiman of NPR’s “Latino U.S.A.” Highlights include 3ballmty doing very dancey, very Norteño Mexican DJ-heavy club music; Ana Tijoux: performing a kind of  political hip-hop influenced rock; Las Acevedo, a sleeper hit of the 2012 LAMC who do simple, soft acoustic guitar; Calle 13: the super popular reggaeton-influenced band whose latest jams mix indigenous Latin American folk with Afro Latino and Caribbean drums and beats.

This is going to be fun….
