There are 41 drug courts in New Mexico that are intended to reduce recidivism and substance abuse among participants by providing rehabilitation and early interventions instead of detention.
One rural program is using innovative learning programs to address the challenges faced by juvenile drug offenders. As KUNM’s Elaine Baumgartel reports, while the program seems to be successful, its funding may be at risk.
