| KUNM News produced this New Mexico Congressional District 3 Forum and Debate on Thursday, September 25th. All three candidates attended (Democrat Ben Ray Lujan, Republican Dan East, and Independent Carol Miller). Topics were the economy, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Iraq war, and healthcare. The candidates had two opportunities to talk about why they each think they're best for the job. The debate was hosted by KUNM News Director Jim Williams. The audio runs just under one hour. |

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader held campaign events in Albuquerque and Santa Fe on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008.
Nader will appear on New Mexico's general election ballot. He's also certified to appear on the ballot in 31 other states.
The 74-year-old Nader ran for president on the Green Party ticket in 1996 and 2000, and as an independent in 2004.
In New Mexico, he got 2.4% of the vote in 1996, 4% in 2000, and one-half of 1% in 2004.
KUNM's John West attended the Albuquerque event on the University of New Mexico campus, and presents this audio from the press conference.
The press conference was followed by a rally attended by approximately 200 persons.

Supporters of the Republican presidential ticket gathered in Albuquerque Saturday night for a campaign rally. Presidential nominee John McCain and his Vice Presidential pick, Governor Sarah Palin fired up the crowd of about 6000 enthusiastic fans.

Michelle Obama -- wife of Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama -- visited Santa Fe and Albuquerque today.
At a rally on the University of New Mexico campus, she spoke of the importance of registering new voters -- particularly women.
She also said New Mexico would be a focal point for her husband’s campaign, leading up to November fourth’s general election.
Michelle Obama was joined on stage by New Mexico’s first lady, Barbara Richardson, former Attorney General Patricia Madrid, and Democratic First Congressional District Candidate Martin Heinrich.

| Congressional District One Candidates Debate in Albuquerque |

The race for New Mexico's Congressional District One is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in the nation.
Republican Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White is going up against Democratic former Albuquerque City Councilor Martin Heinrich for the seat being vacated by Republican Congresswoman Heather Wilson.
On Friday, Heinrich and White met for the first debate leading up to November fourth's general election.
They were introduced by Barbara Kasoff, national president of Women Impacting Public Policy, which hosted the event.
KUNM brings you the full audio of the debate, which covered healthcare, immigration, and economic policy.
Martin Heinrich won the coin toss to deliver the first opening remarks.

Republican Second Congressional District Representative Steve Pearce and Democratic Third Congressional District Representative Tom Udall have yet to meet in a face-to-face debate.
But, on Friday, the two spoke separately and answered questions at a congressional candidates' forum in Albuquerque.
The questions covered health care, immigration, economic policy, and the Iraq war.
The candidates are introduced by Barbara Kasoff, president of Women Impacting Public Policy, which hosted the event.
Pearce spoke first.

Illinois Senator and Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama spoke before a crowd of about 1,200 people in Albuquerque on Monday afternoon. He answered questions from the audience on an alternating girl-boy basis.
Obama was introduced by Monica Garcia, a single mother working in a Belen elementary school.
Garcia was introduced by New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain is scheduled to hold a town hall in Las Cruces on Wednesday.
