The 11th Biennial Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta is set for May 19-21, 2017 in Albuquerque, and promises to provide exciting fiber art exhibits, popular vendors, enlightening classes and fun for all age groups. In addition to classes and fiber art entries from across the country, the Fiesta will feature the work of two local fiber artists—Ruth Ronan, an award winning weaver and Anne Podlesak, an inspirational knitter and yarn dyer. The theme for Fiesta 2017 is “Growing Future Artists”. Members of the 20 participating guilds will provide hands-on opportunities for children to learn about fiber art through experiencing the tools and materials related to each craft, whether it be hand knitting, machine knitting, bead work, quilting, weaving, spinning, lace making, crochet, working with polymer clay, embroidery, rug hooking, sewing, doll making, silk painting or mixed media art. A main focus of Fiesta is to provide and support fiber art education for adults and children.
