Outpost, in partnership with Albuquerque Academy & the African American Performing Arts Center is pleased to present Memphis Blues Foundation’s 2013 Artist of the Year, multi-award winning and Grammy nominated folk-roots-blues singer-songwriter and guitarist, Eric Bibb. who returns to New Mexico, this time accompanied by award winning multi-instrumentalist, Michael Jerome Brown and by a local string quartet led by his cousin, violinist William Houston, plus pianist John Rangel. Nominated for nine W.C. Handy Blues Music Awards, he was also named the Memphis Blues Foundation’s Artist of the Year in 2013.The son of folk musician Leon Bibb, and nephew of composer & jazz pianist, John Lewis (also a UNM and Albuquerque High graduate and founder of the Modern Jazz Quartet), Eric Bibb was raised in New York in a household filled with music, where family friends included Pete Seeger, Odetta, Bob Dylan and Paul Robeson (his godfather). He has recorded and performed with Taj Mahal, Pops and Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt, Mamadou Diabate, Rory Block, Habib Koite and many others and has performed and recorded with Browne for many years.
